Postpartum Hormone Balance


Here’s a postpartum cycle that I see very often and I was 💯 a partaker in after I had my daughter 7 years ago.

1. Wake up after a couple solid hours of sleep 😴

2. Need energy ☕ ☕ ☕ #coffee

3. Crash by lunch 🍫 🍫 🍫 #sugar

4. Repeat 😲

We do what we need to do, no judgement. But, this caffeine/sugar cycle to get through the day wreaks havoc on our hormones and impairs our body’s ability to heal when we need it most. It’s not serving us.

Finding treats that are also nourishing can be key when a sugar craving strikes- and this PB chocolate “ice cream” is one of my favorite go-to’s.

Just freeze coconut milk in silicone ice cube molds. Add 3-4 frozen cubes in a high power blender (I use @blendtec on ice cream mode), cacao powder (antioxidants + magnesium), peanut butter (sub almond, cashew, or sunflower), 1 tsp of maple syrup if desired and a splash of nut milk or water.

Blend and eat as is or put in freezer for 30 min for firmer texture. And for a real treat, add a crushed mini Justin’s Pb cup on top 😏
